The Amazing Race Canada - We Entered!

It is official: we have entered the Amazing Race Canada!

Talk about last minute (it's due tomorrow)!  From Sam's perspective, it's early.

Surprisingly, it was a fairly simple process (except for the part about summarizing your life and relationship into 3 minutes):

  1. Cut a hole in a box.
  2. Write a script.  (...err...I mean 'be spontaneous')
  3. Review it.
  4. Memorize it (we cheated with the ipad running DV Prompter.  It was just like reading from a teleprompter on TV!).
  5. Put on make-up for the first time since....?
  6. Find a way to keep two little girls quiet while you do a video (1 nap + 1 snack)
  7. Film it with a Canon 60D.
  8. Splice in some photos and clips of the girls.
  9. Add music?  Maybe's distracting.
  10. Edit it.  Windows Movie Maker wasn't good enough.  We used VideoPad Editor on a free trial which was AMAZING!
  11. Complete the online application and post it all over the place.
  12. And that's the way you do it.

As they say in Australia, 'fingers and toes'!

Fabric Shopping

What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon - fabric shopping with a friend!

Last weekend my friend and I were very excited to head over to my favourite local fabric shop, Needlework.  They were celebrating their 1 year anniversary and had a sale on so it was extra exciting!!!

Here are some of my finds...

I've got some plans with these lovely blues and greens for some hoop art.  I'm loving hoop art at the moment!

Joel Dewberry, Heirloom, in aqua and orange.  Too pretty to resist.

These beautiful fabrics are begging for me to make the girls a little dress.  The butterflies are Hello Pilgrim by Lizzy House and the polka dots are Habitat by Jay McCarroll.

I love these colours!  I'm thinking of a fun decorative kite for the girls playroom.  The colourful shell fabric in the middle is Parisville Tula Pink.

As you can imagine, my mind is overflowing with project ideas!  I'm craving a solid chunk of time to sit down with my machine.  Not sure when that will happen, but until then, dre-e-e-e-am, dream, dream, dream....

Happy Pancake Tuesday!

Here's what we're having for dinner tonight - Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes!

Homemade pancakes or waffles are our Sunday morning go-to breakfast.  I LOVE pancakes! Thankfully, my daughters do too.  My husband has never been the biggest fan, he far prefers eggs, but now that it's 3 against 1, the girls and I usually win!  Poor guy, this is often the scenario!

Since I was a kid, my mom always made pancakes for dinner on Pancake Tuesday.  I have now carried the tradition on myself.  The girls are so excited to get to eat pancakes for breakfast tonight!  Me too!

Are you serving pancakes for dinner tonight?

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Once upon a time there was a lonely little snack bag in my shop, made in Riley Blake's Fabric, Scoot.

It needed a coordinating sandwich bag to go with it, so I sewed one this past week.

Then I paired them together to make a lovely little set.
But something was still missing... more helicopters, in cream!

And then I needed to pair it with a blue Scoot sandwich bag, and look how perfect they look!
After all that, I decided to create a listing for a set of 10 snack bags, in blue, cream and red fabrics. So pretty!  ...and they all lived happily ever after.  The End!
The true fairy tale?  It's been a busy week, but look how great these fabrics go together!  I'm so pleased!  I've been knee deep in snack bags for a while now.  I had an order of 35 snack bags I had to ship off earlier this week.  When I got the order my 3 year old said "Mommy, she must have 35 kids!  That's a lot of kids!"  That is a lot of kids, but I'm pretty sure it was for a birthday party!!!

Happy Groundhog Day!

Looks like we will have an early spring!  Wiarton Willie, Canada's furry little forecaster, did not see his shadow this morning.  Sounds great, but let's be honest, what does this really mean?

For me, it means I have an excuse to watch an old favourite movie - Groundhog Day.  If you need a laugh, you should watch this movie too!  Happy Groundhog Day!
