Busy Fall Days

We are loving autumn around here!  The beautiful fall colours are slowly coming to an end, but we are still trying to savor every last minute.

This is the beautiful park just two minutes from our house.  I took these shots on my iPhone last week.  Such good quality for a phone!

Taking a break after lots of running around.

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend and enjoyed our annual trip to The Rockton World's Fair.  The girls have so much fun at the fair. They love seeing the animals, going on the carousel, and of course, eating the delicious fair french fries!

Last weekend I hosted a bridal shower for my sister-in-law.  It was an afternoon tea theme.  I made lots of my delicious scones and "tea" sandwiches and my favourite cookie in the world - Belgium cookies!  There were lots of other goodies as well, including white cake with white icing - another favourite of mine!

I asked people to come dressed with their finest high tea hat and of course no one did.  Well, two people came wearing a fascinator but it still made me stand out like a sore thumb!  My aunt lent me her maid of honor's dress and hat from her wedding in the early eighties.  P-r-e-t-t-y snazzy is all I can say...  Even my daughter can't take me seriously!

I had a custom order for a personalized snack and sandwich bag set in my Etsy shop this week.  I had never done it before but I was excited to give it a try.  It turned out really well.  I appliqued the letter V on each bag with purple felt.  I may offer it as regular option in the shop now.

I also sewed up a new pencil case with this beautiful fabric.  I love it so much!  The colours are so fun and cheery.  You can find it in the shop.

Amongst all the chaos, the girls always find time to do what they love most... read!  Yes, they are reading with their bare bums!  They just love naked time too much!

I love watching them with a book in hand, quietly "reading" to themselves.  It's just magical.  Their favourite place to curl up with a book is on the ottoman.  If one of them does it, the other follows along.  Too sweet!

As much as I would love to find time to curl up with a good book these days it's just not happening.  My "free" time is spent pounding the trails as I train for my first half marathon.  I ran 20 kilometers last weekend.  The longest run of my career (which started when I was eight!).  It was my last long run before the big race in two weeks.  I'm looking forward to the taper now so I can rest my legs for the Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope.

I hope you are enjoying the beautiful fall colours and finding time to do what you love most... reading, running, sewing, or wearing a silly old hat from the eighties!
