Pepper Picnic Featured on a Spanish Blog!

Wow!  I'm honored to find my Etsy shop featured on a Spanish blog!  I only wish I could read the posting a little better!  Check it out at una casita en el รกrbol.

You will find some Back to School products reviewed from my shop and other Etsy shops.  There are some cute finds!  It's always great to see people promoting Etsy shops and very much appreciated!

Gracias, una casita en el arbol!

Camping Fabric

Check out this fantastic fabric I just found!  I absolutely love it!  The outdoor images mixed with the retro feel are perfect!

Camping Crests

I came across it on Spoonflower and was so delighted to find that it is by a Canadian designer, Lori Rudolph.  It was the winner of the Spoonflower camping fabric contest.

There's this version as well.

The Do

It pretty much sums up my summer... lots of camping, hiking, camp fires, s'mores, biking, swimming, canoeing, even seeing bears!  Oh, how I love the outdoors!

Any thoughts on what to make with it?

Mini Tote Bag

Remember this tote bag I made for a friend?

Her three year old daughter loved carrying it around so much that I had to make a mini version for her too!  Luckily, there was just enough fabric left over.  I kept it a little more simple by only using one fabric on the outside, omitting the interior pockets and the interfacing.  Here's how it turned out.

It was the perfect size for toting around board books!  My one year old was all over this idea!

Of course, I now have to make one for both my little girls!

I actually photographed the entire process of making this tote bag, with the intentions of writing up my first sewing tutorial for this blog.  I hope to put it all together soon so I can share it with you.  Stay tuned!

Yummy Ontario Peaches!

With all the wonderful ripe and juicy fruit and vegetables here in Southern Ontario, the canning options are endless!

I just couldn't resist canning some peaches this year.  Ontario peaches have been so good!  I only canned a bushel this past week.  It was all I could really find the time for.  Canning on your own, with a one and three year old is an ambitious venture.  Luckily it all worked out, and Little L was even put to work at the sink to help wash all the peaches.  When she said "I want to help," I cringed at first, and then realized there were some things she could do to help.  She was actually super at her job!

Hubby's timing was perfect - home from work just in time to see the final product and take a picture!
I also managed to make some strawberry, raspberry, blackberry freezer jam, which turned out to be very delicious, but unfortunately I forgot to photograph it!  It was put to the test the next morning on some fresh scones!

Are you ready for Back to School?

Pepper Picnic is!

The shop has had a bit of a revamp in preparation for Back to School season.  I've added lots of new beautiful fabrics to choose from and a few new products.  You can now purchase reusable sandwich bags to go along with the ever convenient reusable snack bags!  Even more exciting are the coordinating fabrics I have put together to make some beautiful sets of sandwich and snack bags.  Your lunch and your kids lunch will look so fashionable and adorable, all while being eco-friendly!

I couldn't resist sewing up some cute little pencil cases with some of the gorgeous new fabrics I have on hand.  I lined them with some coordinating fabrics and sewed in a nice little grosgrain finger tab for easy opening and closing.  These zippered pouches have already proven to be incredibly handy in my household!  They have a million uses!  I used one last week when we went camping to carry my essential purse and wallet items (cash, a few cards, lip balm and my mobile) and then I used one today while biking the girls in the Chariot to the park to carry my house keys and mobile.  My little ones carry them all over the house with their tiny toys, crayons and pretend money.  It's adorable when they want to be like mommy and daddy.

Stop by the shop and let me know what you think!  I still have a few more new fabrics waiting for me to sew more new products.  I hope to have these items listed in the next week or so.
