Happy Birthday Lily!

My sweet little Lily turned 3 last week!  Although it was a week long birthday celebration, we had a rainbow themed birthday party for her on the weekend with lots of friends and family.  It was a wonderful day!

We rented a pavilion at our fantastic local park, just at the base of the escarpment.  It's such an incredible spot.  We are so fortunate to have such an amazing park in our town.  The only bummer was that the weather had cooled off a bit so the little wading pool wasn't open.  Lily had really been looking forward to this.  Thankfully the splash pad area was open so the kids could still put on their swimsuits and run through the water.

I had a busy week leading up to the party, crafting and sewing.  I sewed the bunting banner with felt in the photo below.  I just love the look of these 6 rainbow colours together.  Such a fun, cheery theme!  I made 6 tissue paper pom-poms to hang from the roof.  They looked so pretty. Unfortunately, I didn't get a great picture of them.  They are an easy Martha Stewart craft to make.

I baked over 80 cupcakes all week long, putting each batch in the freezer to keep them fresh.  Instead of a cake I decide to create a rainbow out of cupcakes.  I must say, it turned out beautifully!  I bought cupcake liners in each of the rainbow colours - red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, and made a mixture of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes.  They were all topped with coordinating icing, along with some white ones for the clouds.  The kids were all happy at the party when they got to pick a colour of their choice.

Lily awaiting the approval to finally eat a cupcake.  The poor girl helped and watched me make them all week long.  Every day she asked, "Can I eat a cupcake today?"
I made the felt birthday crown for my younger daughter's 1st birthday.  I had lightly stitched on the felt number so it can easily be taken off and used again, year after year.

The party favours were a big hit!  My husband and I made cute little butterflies from the decorated clothes pins I sell in my Etsy shop.  We filled each bag with m&m's, glued on googly eyes and made some little antennae with pipe cleaners.

Time for the splash pad!

A true water baby - she LOVES water!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Lily!  We love you!!!
