Happy Mother's Day!

Thanks to my amazing husband, I had such a wonderful mother's day!

I started the day off with a sleep-in, until 7:30 a.m. Sounds pathetic, I know, but I'm usually up at 6 a.m with my two little early risers.  I awoke to that wonderful sound of two loving sisters giggling their little hearts out as they rolled around, playing on the kitchen floor, while daddy was making pancakes for everyone - my favourite breakfast!  I ate so much I needed to rest afterwards, and oddly enough, I could!  I curled up on the couch with little L and read books while daddy cleaned the kitchen and little V napped.

Hubby packed up a delicious picnic and took us all to one of my favourite picnic and hiking spots - Webster's Falls.  Every time I go there I feel like I'm in a story book.  It's too picturesque!  The weather was just beautiful and it was surprisingly quiet there today.  We had a great little hike and lovely picnic and then headed off to the park for a play on the climber and swings.

Back home, little V went down for her afternoon nap and I cuddle with little L in her bed while reading her stories with the hopes that she might magically take a nap and I could have one too.  She's almost 3 and stopped napping when she was 2, so it was a long shot!  After I read her some stories she "read" me one and I fell asleep!  Apparently my husband came in to check on us after quite some time and when he came in the room little L was playing quietly on the floor and said "Quiet daddy, mommy's sleeping."  Too cute!  So I did squeeze a nap in and it was wonderful as ever.

I awoke feeling fresh and energized and ready for a run.  If I could squeeze this in before dinner it would truly be the perfect day, and I did!  Oh, what a great trail run I had!  Perhaps a little too hard a workout as I felt like throwing up a few times on the steep hills but the fact that I was passing some mountain bikers kept me going!

Then I came home to a wonderful BBQ in our beautiful backyard - veggie burgers, grilled asparagus and my absolute favourite, Caesar salad!  Bath time, more cuddles and stories and so many wonderful kisses and hugs to top the day off.  It was truly the perfect day!

Aside from all these wonderful things, I only entered the kitchen today to eat - no cleaning or cooking!  As much as I enjoy doing both of these things, the latter more than the former, it felt amazing to not be responsible for these daily tasks.

Now it's time for my nightly cup of "Feeling Soothed" tea and a slice of white cake with white icing that little L made with Mema (Grandma) this week to give to me today.  So sweet!

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful Moms out there! :)
